You are an individual living in the world of Snow-piercer. The world has frozen over in efforts to reverse global warming and only one train remains that holds everything needed to be self-sustaining and has a track that spans the globe (food production, heat, energy, all supplied by the Eternal Engine). The ticket determines an individual's amenities onboard (1st Class passenger, 2nd Class passenger, 3rd Class, and various worker classes) and individuals were selected through a random lottery. However in the ensuring panic, hordes of people without a train ticket forcefully board the train despite the train’s guards. The non-ticket holders are stowed in the lowest carriages of the train and endure a life of great suffering. Non- ticket holders will endure all the world in perpetuity in the train and nobody cannot step outside without dying. However their existence puts more strain on the resources of the train.

It is Christmas. In otherwise pristine snow, the trackmarks of Santa Claus’ sleigh are visible. A policeman is walking around the field to savour the Christmas spirit and suddenly discovers a small booklet. It is Santa Claus’ list with no less than a complete list of all transgressions of everyone on the planet. The policeman immediately recognises the potential power of such a list. In April 1948, United Nations passed a resolution which called for a referendum to be held to decide the statehood of Kashmir with three possible outcomes: being part of India, being part of Pakistan, being an independent state but asked for complete demilitarization of the region as a precursor. The referendum was never held, as India and Pakistan refused to pull out their troops. Since then, succesful electroral processess to determine statehoods have been held in undemocratic and militarized regions (such as Namibia from South Africa, East Timor from Philiphines, South Sudan from Sudan etc.) and Kashmir has remained a contested conflict zone with nearly 75 years of suffering.
For the purposes of this debate, the people of Kashmir exclusively vote in the referendum.
